Zagorski Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, Katowice, Poland Electromagnetic buoyancy force causes the mo vement of nonconducive par ticles in a c onducting liquid under electromagnetic fi eld. The phenomenon allows fi ltration of small inclusions from molten metals. This paper presents a mathematical model of the fi ltration process under alt ernating electromagnetic fi eld and the methodology f or maximizing its effi cienc y.
